Therapy in Catskill, NY | Counselor Cris Fort

You wake up to the soft light over the mountains, maybe with a cup of coffee by the Hudson, already thinking about the day ahead. There’s beauty all around you, the stillness, the trees, the familiar rhythm of Catskill, and yet inside, it can still feel noisy. You take care of everyone, keep things together, but somewhere in the middle of it all, you’ve forgotten how to really pause. This is your space to breathe again. Here, you don’t have to be the strong one or have everything figured out. You only need to arrive as you are. Together, we’ll slow the pace so you can reconnect with yourself, the same way the river slows just before sunset, calm, reflective, and full of quiet movement. After each session, you’ll feel lighter and more present. The noise softens, the body relaxes, and what felt tangled starts to make sense again.

Here’s what our work might look like:

This is a living, breathing container, rooted in clinical depth, mystical tradition, and intuitive truth. It meets you where you are and evolves as you do.

Sacred Intake + Elemental Assessment

Before we begin, you’ll receive a set of reflective prompts and guided inquiries to help map your internal landscape, what’s shifting, unraveling, or calling for integration. This includes an elemental assessment to reveal imbalances across earth, air, fire, and water. We’ll then meet live to orient together, set intentions, and prepare the ground for our work.

  • Somatic Therapy

Some healing happens quietly, in the space between tension and release. This practice teaches you to notice that space and to trust it. Somatic psychotherapy helps regulate, restore, and reconnect you with the calm that has always existed underneath the noise.

  • Shadow Work Therapy

What lives in the unconscious has its own rhythm. By turning toward it instead of away, you begin to hear the quiet guidance within pain. Integration follows naturally, not as a goal but as the inevitable result of honesty.

  • Expressive eco art therapy for emotional healing

Your hands already know what your heart is trying to say. In eco art therapy, you’ll create using natural materials, color, and texture to give shape to emotions that words can’t always hold. You might find that as you paint or build, you begin to understand yourself in new ways.

Many clients describe finishing their sessions feeling like they just stepped out of the woods after a long walk, clear, grounded, and alive again.

  • Gestalt Therapy

Awareness is the beginning of wholeness. The sessions are designed to bring attention back to what is real right now, the breath, the feeling, the impulse to speak. Through creative exploration and compassionate witnessing, you learn to meet yourself with honesty and grace.

What clients say...

When I first met Cris, I was at a moment in my life where I was unsure of every possible direction. All of my decisions were based on fear and a recent change in my health had me wondering what kind of life I would have and holy crap I'm going to die. Being in front of Cris's intellect, warmth and grace literally gave me strength I didn't know was there and the assurance of my ability to navigate conflict with grace and evenness. A truly gifted guide and stellar human being.

Cris has been integral to my growth. She is incredibly kind, understanding, and supportive, while also challenging me to face things I may have been ignoring/dismissing. I’m really grateful to have been able to work with her.

Cris is a wonderful therapist. As a pediatrician, I was prone to over-thinking. She has helped me to work through my thoughts and to be in tune with my body.
